Last Meal
China, America, Iran, Israel, and Ecuador are some of the places that do it.
Decapitation, electrocution, hanging, shooting, and stoning are some of the ways they do it.
How ever, where ever, and when ever states choose to implement the final punishment on a citizen, they have most often granted the condemned a Last Meal.
For Gallery Xue’s next group exhibition we invite artists and other culture observers to conceive and serve a last meal. Elaborate. Simple. Rich. Spartan. Whatever you discover in trying to imagine your final corporeal experience here on earth.
Compose and serve whatever meal you see fit and bring it to Gallery Xue on Saturday 1 October 2011
Meals delivered and installed Saturday 1 October 2011:
• 10am – 2pm SLT
• 6pm – 10pm BST (London)
• 7pm – 8pm CEST (Amsterdam)
• 1am – 5am Sunday, CST (Taipei)
Last Meal Opening Saturday 1 October 2011:
• 4pm – 7pm SLT
• Midnight – 3am Sunday, BST (London)
• 1am – 4am Sunday, CEST (Amsterdam)
• 7am – 10am Sunday, CST (Taipei)

Oh, thanks for asking Aero, no we don’t represent him, but some of the artists we do represent created an exhibition of “last meal” installations inspired by his work.
I hope we’ll be able to get documentation on those posted soon!

Oh wow, I just saw the virtual pieces that your artists created in response to this at Gallery Xue NYC. Such beautiful work. From playful to sublime. A great photo series and a great sculpture / installation series.

Thanks for your comments everyone! Yes, James Reynolds work is really exciting and it was a great launch point to let virtual sculptors imagine something so strangely human as a “last meal.”
